Since visiting NYC last month, it’s been a whirlwind of media with Business Insider and Yahoo News last week. This week I was live on Sunrise (Australia’s #1 Morning Show).

Things didn’t go as planned.

I had these pre-written questions that I thought the host would ask, but instead…

I’m pretty sure he tried to insult me on LIVE TV
I’m sitting in the broadcasting room in a Chicago studio.

I’m shaking inside.

This is my first appearance on TV…and it’s LIVE!?

The camera is set, I’m mic’d up, adrenaline rushing through my veins.

Oh gosh am I going to faint?

I feel like a can’t breathe.

The person in the ear piece says, “Susie you’re going on in 3…2…1.”

I thought I knew what to expect.

I’m on AIR. We’re live.

That’s when the morning show host, not only fails to ask an intellectual question about my business, but he decides to take a stab with an insult,  “So, are you one of those people who posts work at home flyers in on telephone poles…”

  • Years of digital marketing experience.
  • Thousands of hours of learning, trying, testing and tweaking.
  • 5.3 million organic website hits from my own marketing strategies.
  • Hundreds of happy customers and clients.
  • Countless sleepless nights working as a business owner and a mother of two babies…

And this is the question I get on LIVE television, on my first featured appearance:

“So, are you one of those people who posts work at home flyers in the telephone poles?”

Take a look at what happens next here:

I’m SO proud of how I handled it.

If you’re young, if you’re old, if you’re black or white, if you’re a minority, if you’re a woman… if you’re a HUMAN. People will try to cut you down in life.

When people can’t do something themselves, they will doubt you, belittle you and tell you that you can’t do it.

Well, guess what?

I’ve spent years feeling insignificant and small. I’ve also spent years improving my confidence.

I built my business from the ground up with my OWN blood, sweat and tears.

One TV host will not stop this fire that is inside of me.

Not even close. It actually feeds my fire!

I want to leave you with this quote from Taylor Swift:

There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, but if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you’ll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

And to everyone who is paving their own path in life:

Never stop. Never back down.

After the segment, I had viewers emailing me apologizing for the way I was treated, saying “I hope you don’t think that he is representative of the population here.

Amazing, right?

In response: I have nothing but LOVE in return.

Onward and upward!
