Q&A with Nagina Abdullah

How did you get started?

I struggled with losing weight my whole life. I thought because of my genes I would never be able to feel confident in a fitted dress or wear a bathing suit without a cover-up. After I had 2 kids, I worked in one of the most demanding careers out there – management consulting for a top firm in NYC. Every week I traveled to new locations, worked 12+ hour days and stayed in hotels for multiple nights of the week. I had no routine and no extra time. I quickly started to realize how little energy I had to do fun things I wanted with my family and I was frustrated with myself every time I looked in the mirror. I was scared that I would never get back to looking and feeling like “me” because I had little time. That’s when I decided something needed to change – and I started with food. I researched volumes of nutritional information. I love to cook, so I experimented and came up with my own recipes, modified the ones I grew up with and changed my diet. To my surprise, my weight came off faster than I could dream of. I lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks, and 40 pounds in 9 months! I went down 4 sizes. And it’s stayed off. Little did I know that as I was losing weight and transforming my life, i was gaining a new passion. I began to find that other moms and busy women wanted to lose weight and feel more active too. I had knowledge and an easy and fun technique to losing weight that other people started asking me about. That’s when I started documenting my recipes and sharing what I had learned to lose weight on my website, MasalaBody.com. Soon after I started my 1:1 premium weight-loss coaching program, where I now offer my “10-Week Weight-Loss Jumpstart for the Busy Woman”.

What is your "why"?

I help busy women who work 12+ hour days and travel frequently lose weight and keep it off, feel confident when they look in the mirror, and have the energy to be active with their families and/or friends.

I spent much of my junior high days in the principal’s office because I laughed uncontrollably and did not listen to my teachers in class.

What is your best advice to other entrepreneurs?

Once you have researched and focused on one idea, stay focused on developing, selling and scaling it. Work on making it really good and do not get sidetracked by what everyone else is doing. This persistence and consistency in building one idea is what will set you apart and give you long-term success.

Q&A with Cameo Gore

How did you get started?

I started my business in February 2015. I knew that after 20 years of running and developing businesses for other people, I was being called to serve female entrepreneurs to shine their light in a bigger way. There was a nagging that I could no longer deny so I hired my first coach who helped me to get fully aligned with my soul purpose (we all have one)…..and I attribute my alignment to how I have been able to create a sustainable business quickly…and even create, sell out, and lead a mind blowing retreat for purpose driven women in my first year of business.

What is your "why"?

We are at a time to shine out unique gifts and talents into the world in a bigger way…..so we can serve our purpose and mission in life! And also so that the things that we have learned, we can finally TEACH. My why has so much to do with being authentic, living an aligned life (hint: that was not my corporate career) and lifting up other women that need the gifts that we have. My why has everything to do with growing and serving others in a really big way (so that they can do the same).

I love doing teleclasses! I love teaching even if there is no pitch at the end!

I am a thrill seeker and have been sky diving! AND scuba diving with sharks.

What is your best advice to other entrepreneurs?

Create your business in alignment. Stop looking around at what everyone is doing and get quiet. Listen to what you are being guided to do next, not what others are talking about or doing. This creates overwhelm and the world needs less overwhelm. Also, you will grow your business so much faster when you focus on you and what brings more joy and passion!

Q&A with Stephanie Richter

How did you get started?

In 2011, I started Kingdom Coaching to help others create the life they want, no longer held back by fear or self-limiting beliefs. I was sitting in a coaching workshop when I had a God-inspired idea, complete with a business plan structure for Kingdom Coaching. After speaking with other leaders and business owners about my plan, I launched my business. It seemed to all happen pretty quickly, but as any entrepreneur knows, there is a longer back story and preparation phase before any great idea is birthed. Here’s my story… After 14 years working in corporate environments, I felt like there had to be more to life than the daily grind. Sure, I had achieved what many would call success in my career, but I rarely saw my family and friends. And I certainly didn’t have any time to relax or do things I enjoyed. If I continued on the path I was on without making changes, I would not be living the life I envisioned. I realized that what “success” often looks like from the outside does not necessarily equate to a person feeling like they are truly living! (At least in my own experience.) Maybe you can relate? No longer content in the daily grind, I went on a spiritual journey to discover who God created me to be. Along the way, I allowed God to strip away the expectations I had put on myself and those that I felt others had for my life. You know, the expectations… the all-too-common Western ideals of getting your college degree and securing a career where you can work hard to become “successful.” We’ve all probably been subjected to these external pressures at one point or another. But once I redefined what success looks like in my own life and focused more on determining what I need to feel like I’m thriving, things started to change. After learning more about who I was designed to be and my purpose in this world, I started directing the course of my life to align with those ideals. I was amazed by the results! I started to experience true prosperity and the abundant life… great joy, fulfillment and feeling like I’m doing what I was born to do! I found it was so much easier to just be myself and do what I’m really good at rather than striving to be something I’m not. And it is SO freeing! I also realized that for too many years, I wasn’t living the life my soul longed for because I was being held back by fear and self-limiting beliefs. As I discovered the best ways to move past fear and start changing what I believe about myself and what is possible in life, I found greater joy than I had ever known! Because I have now experienced the abundant life that is available on the other side of fear, I’m passionate about helping other people to go after the very things they are afraid of and remove limiting mind sets… so they can also live the life they want!

What is your "why"?

Kingdom Coaching was created to set people free to live the life they want! We expect to see thousands of people every year set free from the bondage of self-limiting thoughts and fears… to become who they are created to be… and to find life, joy, hope, freedom, and abundance as their new “norm.” Drawing wisdom from personal experiences, concepts and practical tools that led to breakthroughs in my journey, I enjoy helping other people move past obstacles in their life, so they too can experience the life they want.

Tell us a little known fact about yourself.

I love to travel and experience other cultures from a local perspective. Over the last year, I was blessed to be able to spend three months traveling overseas and to beautiful locations in the U.S. all while visiting friends and family.

What is your best advice to other entrepreneurs?

I would encourage you to surround yourself with people who believe in you more than you believe in yourself. Whether it’s a Mastermind group, close friends, or fellow entrepreneurs, find your key people who will help you push through, to keep going and to take risks that seem scary. The rewards are huge! On the flip side, limit how much information you share with naysayers. The people you invite to speak into your life can help make you or break you. When you surround yourself with the right people, you CAN achieve what seems impossible!

One way that I’m really ramping up my New Year is by getting serious about fitness. Here are my top 5 quick tips to help you feel fit and fabulous in 2016!

1. Daily Protein Shake

I’ve started blending up a protein shake each day with ice, coconut milk, frozen fruit, and protein powder. It’s a great way to feel refreshed throughout the day. You might even consider using a shake as one meal replacement. Have fun with recipes and ingredients!

2. Bicep Curls

Working at the office is no excuse for laziness. I’ve started to do some mini workouts to keep my energy high while working. I keep a set of weights by my desk and do 20 reps of bicep curls on breaks and in between client calls.

3. Apple Watch

Just call me Miss Technology! I splurged on the Apple Watch this month to keep track of my fitness goals. Accountability and consistency are just as big of a deal in your fitness goals as they are in business. I love using the Apple Watch to see how many calories I burn each day, how many steps I’ve taken and also to receive texts while at the gym (all on my wrist)! It’s my personal workout buddy.

4. New Workout Clothes

Nothing motivates me more to go to the gym like some new workout clothes and gym shoes! Feeling fashion forward even while working out helps me to get out the door and feel confident. If one of your desired feelings is to be healthy and toned, invest in some new clothes and watch how your confidence lights up!

5. Cutting Out Sugar

The emotional or energetic roller coaster ups and downs that you might be feeling each day might be due to your sugar intake. One big change I’m committed to is to eat LESS sugar. This is going to be tough for me as I LOVE cake pops, Frappucinos and muffins. But I must confess, the days when I eat less sugar I really do FEEL better. I have more energy throughout the day!

Crockpot Cheesy Loaded Mashed “Potatoes”

Spray a small sauté pan with cooking spray, and cook onion and garlic until just translucent, then add to crockpot.(Note: You can skip this step, but I recommend it, because it brings out the natural sweetness of the onion and garlic).

To the crockpot, add the cauliflower, chicken stock and seasonings (along with the onion and garlic). Cook on high for 3-4 hours, or on low for 7-8 hours.

Strain out most of the liquid,  (keep just enough to help you blend, about 2-4 tbs) and add cooked cauliflower to a blender or food processor. Blend (or just pulse until it reaches the texture you prefer) and add parmesan cheese, and season to taste. Top with bacon, cheese, and green onions if you desire.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Cauliflower florets (about 2 medium heads)
  • 1 medium Sweet onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 cups Chicken stock
  • 1 tbsGarlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp Salt and Pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 tbs Dried parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Optional Toppings: Bacon, cooked and crumbled, cheddar cheese, green onions

Iced Coffee

Fill a glass with 1/4 cup of the cold water. Add instant coffee, protein powder (or half and half), and sweetener.

Stir until the coffee and protein powder are dissolved. Add the rest of the cold water and mix. Add the ice and enjoy with a dash of cinnamon on top if desired

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tbsInstant coffee
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1.5 tbs protein powder (or 2 tbs half and half)
  • 2-4 packets of Stevia (or 1-2 tbs sweetener of choice, or to taste)
  • 1 cup of ice (or to taste)
  • Optional:Cinnamon for topping
  • I used one packet Starbucks instant via brew, use more or less to taste.
  • Or 1 cup strong brewed coffee, at room temperature, or chilled. Note- this will replace the instant coffee.
