Are you spinning your wheels?

People tell me I’m mature for my age.

There is a reason why. In some areas of my life, I had to grow up fast or learn fast.

Before I met my husband, I had dated a guy I met at a bar. That was typical for me during my “college days”.  This particular guy was dealing with a lot of personal issues. I thought I could fix him, I thought I could change him…or just help him. I tried so hard to make it feel right.

But it wasn’t right.

I had a voice inside telling me to get out. To break it off. My inner knowing was getting louder and louder, until I finally broke things off. When I did, he got upset. Very upset.

Years of issues piled on top of a breakup led this man, Chris, to commit suicide.

Months of prayer followed Chris’ death. Months of soul searching… And you could say I transformed my life. I grew up and I grew out of my “college party days”.  I grew into someone who cared more about life.

How was I going to live? How was I going to make an impact? Who did I want in my life? These question became my focus.

So, what does this have to do with spinning wheels?

Spinning your wheels is like forcing something. Putting forth extreme and restless effort…but the outcome just isn’t right.

One day things might break down. One day it might all stop and you’ll  NEED to turn around. You see, once we grasp that we hold the compass in life, and we can navigate our ship, life changes. Big time changes. Let’s do it!
